Project Exodus
Welcoming New Americans

Over the last six years, the Religious Education families have welcomed seven households of refugees and have helped them to begin their new lives as Americans. The families have been from diverse places - Iraq, Myanmar, Congo - and each family endured war and dislocation, as well as time in refugee camps.

We hope to welcome a new family to the Chicago area in April!

The donations and 'moving in' efforts of our Religious Education families furnished their new home and gave them a sound beginning on the road to becoming Americans.

 Fun and Engaging Things Happen

Each year, we have interesting classroom units, as well as special events. For example, we have had a visit from a Holocaust survivor, a celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, an All Saints mass together, and a visit from the good bishop, St. Nicholas. We have helped refugee families set  up their new homes in America and have raised money for Fields of Life in East Africa.
